The Ancient One Endures
There's something quietly humbling about standing beneath a tree this old. Its trunk has thickened and split over centuries, and the supporting props beneath the heaviest limbs tell their own story of care and survival. Against the soft, fading light of dusk, every twist and knuckle in the bark stood out, the branches spreading wide and low like something half animal, half architecture.
What drew me to this scene was the contrast between the stillness of the sky and the restless tangle of branches against it. The muted colours felt right for the mood, calm but faintly dramatic, and the surrounding grass and distant treeline gave a sense of scale without competing for attention. It felt less like photographing a tree and more like photographing time itself, slowed right down.
