Sunlight Chosen Fields
After taking in the sweeping panorama from Sutton Bank, I found myself drawn to the way the ever-changing clouds were transforming the landscape below. Rather than trying to capture the entire view again, I switched to a longer focal length and focused on a much smaller section of the countryside.
As the clouds drifted overhead, beams of sunlight swept across the fields, briefly illuminating pockets of vibrant green before disappearing again. It was one of those moments where patience pays off. The scene was constantly changing, and every few seconds the landscape looked completely different.
What I love about this photograph is the contrast. The darker foreground trees naturally frame the image, while the rolling patchwork of fields catches the sunlight in the distance. It almost feels like nature has taken a spotlight and picked out individual parts of the Yorkshire countryside.
It's easy to arrive at a viewpoint and immediately reach for the widest lens you own, but some of my favourite landscape photographs come from slowing down and looking for smaller details within the bigger scene. This image is a reminder that even from one viewpoint, there are countless compositions waiting to be discovered—you just have to take the time to look.
