The trails around Derbyshire are full of small scenes like this that make me stop and take a second look. This old signpost pointing towards Cromford Moor caught my attention as the path disappeared into the darker woodland beyond.
There was something about the contrast between the bright greenery and the shadowy trail ahead that gave the scene a quiet sense of mystery and exploration. Looking at it makes me think about the feeling of setting off without really knowing what you might find further along the path, which is part of why I enjoy photographing places like this so much.
