Watching the birds move over the water, I caught this gull just as it hovered mid-air, wings fully spread, before turning away. The dark hood and soft red of its beak and legs stood out against the muted grey backdrop, giving the shape of the bird real clarity without any distraction around it.

What made the moment worth keeping was how still everything else felt. The rippled silver surface below gave a quiet sense of atmosphere, while the bird's outstretched wings suggested motion frozen for a second.
