Scotland, Norfolk & a New Chapter for Bowes Photo
It's been a little while since my last journal entry, but that doesn't mean things have been quiet. Quite the opposite. Over the past few months I've been fortunate enough to spend time exploring both Scotland and Norfolk, camera in hand, while also putting countless hours into transforming Bowes Photo behind the scenes.
Exploring Scotland
Scotland is one of those places that never fails to inspire. Every visit offers something different, from dramatic mountain landscapes and winding glens to peaceful lochs and ever-changing skies.
Some of my favourite moments came when the weather did exactly what Scottish weather is known for—changing in an instant. Those brief breaks in the cloud and the constantly shifting light created some unforgettable opportunities and reminded me why I enjoy landscape photography so much.
It's a place I know I'll keep returning to.
Discovering Norfolk
After the rugged scenery of Scotland, Norfolk provided a completely different photographic experience.
Its wide open coastline, expansive skies, quiet nature reserves and rich wildlife encouraged a slower, more patient approach behind the camera. Instead of chasing dramatic landscapes, I spent more time simply observing, waiting and appreciating the quieter moments that often produce the most rewarding photographs.
It's a county I'd happily revisit again and again.
A Fresh Look for Bowes Photo
Away from the camera, I've also been hard at work on the biggest redesign Bowes Photo has seen since it launched.
The entire website has been reworked with a cleaner, more modern appearance, making it easier than ever to browse galleries, discover locations and enjoy my photography.
Some of the improvements include:
- A completely redesigned website with a cleaner, more refined layout.
- A much improved photo viewing experience.
- A new fine art print store featuring museum-quality prints.
- Better navigation throughout the site.
- A dedicated Places section to explore where photographs were taken.
- Improved search and filtering across the gallery.
- Faster loading times and improved performance.
- A greatly expanded management system that allows me to organise and maintain the website far more efficiently.
- Countless refinements and improvements throughout the site to create a smoother experience for visitors.
Although many of these changes happen behind the scenes, they all contribute towards making Bowes Photo a better place to showcase my work and a more enjoyable website to explore.
Looking Ahead
There are plenty more locations on my list to visit, more wildlife to photograph and many more stories to share here in the journal.
